The manipulation of sports competetions poses a serious threat to the integrity of sport and demage the image of sport as a whole. The fight against match-fixing requires close cooperation between sports movements, betting operators, Olympic Committees, law enforcement authorities and international organisations.

The aim of this section is to give a voice to the most important events and positive examples of cooperation between bodies responsible for sport to fight against match fixing. 

UEFA - UEFA welcomes the CAS decision on Skënderbeu

A piece of very good news for all involved in the fight against match-fixing and providing betting monitoring and other integrity support to governing bodies.

UEFA welcomes the Court of Arbitration for Sport's decision to dismiss the appeal lodged by KS Skënderbeu against the UEFA Appeals Body decision of 26 April 2018.

Consequently CAS confirmed the decision taken by the UEFA disciplinary bodies to exclude KS Skënderbeu from participating in UEFA club competitions for ten (10) years and to fine the club with EUR 1.000.000 due to its involvement in activities aimed at arranging the outcome of matches.

FIFA introduces innovative approach with launch of new Disciplinary Code

After almost 15 years without any major changes to its Disciplinary Code, FIFA´s new vision has now been reflected in the 2019 edition.

Among the many changes, the fight against match manipulation has also been simplified and the Disciplinary Committee is now the only body competent to deal with match manipulation matters at FIFA level.

"Tackling Corruption in Sport" event, organized in collaboration with CONI, the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Italian Office for Sport of the Council of Ministers and ANAC follows the adoption of the Resolution 7/8 on Corruption in Sport, by the Conference of States Parties to the United Nations Convention against Corruption (UNCAC) at its seventh session, held in Vienna from 6 to 10 November 2017. The event represents the possibility to discuss about an operative agenda to implement the UNCAC Resolution with the most important stakeholders active in the fight against corruption in sport with particular attention to: protected reporting systems, manipulation of tenders and infiltration of organized crime in the sports market.

The Royal Spanish Football Federation has hosted a workshop on integrity in football and fight against the manipulation of matches organized by Transparency International Spain, within the framework of the European Project "Anti Match-Fixing Top Training" (AMATT), funded by the European Commission (Erasmus+ Sport Program).

During the meeting, the results of the qualitative and quantitative research of the AMATT Project were shown, from which it was reflected on the main challenges in the prevention and fight against match-fixing in Spain, how to implement safe and effective reporting channels in organizations sports and the best ways to continue advancing in effective models of training and information on the subject.
