Match-fixing will not go away by itself.
As we pursue our goal of prevention, as we form international partnerships, share information for the greater good, and coordinate our efforts against organized crime, we must remain pro-active, and never be content to rest on our laurels.
The match-fixers, for their part, are not.
Ronald K. Noble, Secretary General, INTERPOL, 2014
The AMATT project focuses on tackling the cross-border threat to the integrity of sport, and specifically match fixing, through education and training, specifically aimed at policy effectiveness, taking into account the ongoing EU policies in the field of sport and the partners' previous experience on Sports Integrity.
The roadmap for intervention follows the recommendations of the Nicosia Declaration on the Fight agains Match-Fixing (2012):
Match-fixing constitutes one of the most serious threats to contemporary sports, undermining the fundamental values of integrity, fair play and respect for others. It is a growing and pressing problem affecting many Member States and many sports. Addressing the issue requires urgent, concerted, and coordinated efforts from public authorities, the sport movement and betting operators.

Using the partners distinct know-how and organizational skills, the tailored training was developed according to a holistic and interconnected approach, based in four dimensions:
E - Engage ;
A - Raise Awareness ;
C - Build Capacity and Competences ;
W - Create Willingness to Act.

Multi-Level Learning Tool
AMATT is a Multi-Level Training Tool tailored to different national contexts, institutional frameworks and diverse stakeholders' needs and expectations.
It includes a range of collaborative tools that can be used in a wide range of training setups:
- Conferences;
- Seminars;
- Workshops;
- Coaching;
- e-Learning.
It also makes available a web platform with all the project materials dedicated to Digital Peer Learning Community and National Digital Learning Platforms .
Through the AMATT Multi-Level Learning Tool, the collaborative partnership aims to foster knowledge sharing, peer learning and, most of all, the most needed change of actions and attitudes from Anti Match-Fixing Top Influencers .
Sport organizations struggle to develop appropriate policies to fight Match-Fixing without investing in very specific know-how and peer learning, despite the growing awareness of the problem.
At the same time, spectators and sports enthusiasts quite often play a very passive role in relation to the match-fixing phenomenon.
That is why it is key to train top decision makers of sports organizations and media operators.
Goals
- To construct a tailored training pattern, strongly linked to the specific needs of the two target groups and based on relevant data, which allow specific knowledge and understanding of the Match-Fixing phenomenon;
- To build the capacity of sport organizations' top decision makers in implementing effective anti-match-fixing policies and procedures;
- To involve spectators and sports enthusiasts in preventing and tackling Match-Fixing, by strenghtening the proactive role of media operators;
- To provide guidelines for EU effective policies against Match-Fixing in sport, based on the tailored training.
